bloop is an iPhone app I made. You log a food and your bubbles fill up with the protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals it gave you. There are no calorie goals, no streaks and no guilt, and I designed it with ADHD and autistic brains in mind.

How do I log a food?
Open the Log tab (or tap Log a food on Today). Tap one of your go-tos to log it in one tap. To find something else, tap Search foods and type its name. To scan a barcode, tap the round arrow next to Search and choose Scan.
Can I add a whole recipe?
Yes. On the Log tab, tap the round arrow next to Search and choose Add a recipe. Paste the ingredient list, or bring it in From a link or From a photo. Tap Next: check the ingredients and fix anything bloop got wrong. Then choose how much you had and tap Add to today. The recipe stays in your go-tos.
Can I save a meal I eat often?
Log the foods, then tap Save as a meal on the Log tab and give it a name. It shows up first in your go-tos, and one tap logs everything in it.
The food I want isn’t there.
Search for it, then tap Add your own food. Type what one serving is and any amounts you know. bloop keeps it as a go-to.
I forgot to log something yesterday.
On the Log tab, tap Yesterday at the top. Anything you add goes to yesterday until you switch back to Today.
I logged the wrong thing. How do I fix it?
Open the Log tab. Swipe left on the food, or tap it, to change the amount or delete it. If you delete something by mistake, tap Put back.
Where did a bubble’s amount come from?
Tap the bubble on Today. You’ll see which of today’s foods filled it, and some foods that have more of it.
Why didn’t a packaged food fill my B12, magnesium or vitamin D bubble?
Food labels usually leave those out. For plain foods like milk, yogurt or rice, bloop may offer the numbers from the same everyday food. Tap Use its numbers if you want them. Otherwise bloop tells you the label had no number instead of guessing.
Why are there two omega-3 bubbles?
Plant omega-3 (from flax, chia and walnuts) and fish omega-3 (EPA and DHA, from fish or algae oil) are different, and your body turns only a little of the plant kind into the fish kind. So bloop tracks them separately. The U.S. has no official amount for fish omega-3, so bloop uses the European one: 250 mg a day.
How do I add a vitamin I take every day?
Open Settings, find Daily vitamins and tap Add a vitamin. Copy the amounts from the label. bloop then adds it to your bubbles each day you open the app. If you skip a day, delete that day’s entry in the Log.
Can I use ounces instead of grams?
Yes. Open Settings and choose “oz & lb” or “g & kg” under Units. Vitamin and mineral amounts stay in g, mg and mcg, the same as on food labels.
Where do the daily amounts come from?
From U.S. nutrition guidelines, except fish omega-3 (see above). If you answer the optional “About you” questions, bloop uses the amounts for your age group. You can change your answers any time in Settings. To see every source, tap See the sources for these amounts in Settings, or tap a bubble and then Learn more.
How do I add the widget?
Press and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and pick bloop. The medium and large sizes have go-to buttons that log a food without opening the app.
Can I log with Siri?
Yes. Say “Log food in bloop” and Siri asks which go-to. You can also name it: “Log eggs in bloop”. bloop’s Log a go-to action is in the Shortcuts app too.
Can bloop save to Apple Health?
Yes, if you want it to. In Settings, under Your data, switch on Save to Apple Health. bloop only adds the nutrients you log. It never reads anything from Health.
Can I get my log out of bloop?
In Settings, under Your data, tap Export your log. You get a spreadsheet file you can send to a dietitian or keep.
Can I look at past weeks?
Yes. On the Week tab, use the arrows next to the title.
Can bloop remind me to log?
If you’d like. In Settings, under Gentle settings, switch on A gentle reminder and pick a time. It only shows up on days you haven’t logged anything.
Can I see calories?
They are hidden unless you want them. In Settings, switch off Hide calories and an estimate appears next to each food in your Log.
Can bloop be calmer, or dark?
Tap Calm at the top of Today to mute the colors and stop the motion. For dark mode, open Settings and choose Dark under Appearance, or Match phone.
Does bloop work on iPad or Mac?
Right now bloop is made for iPhone. Versions for iPad and Mac are coming in the next update.
Is bloop medical advice?
No. bloop’s numbers are estimates meant to help you notice patterns. Talk to a doctor or dietitian about your own needs.
